TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – DCH’s Regional Medical Center is hosting a back-to-school vaccination clinic for children aged 12 and older at the hospital’s remote location from 8 a.m. to noon this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
DCH is partnering with volunteers from West Alabama Pediatrics, Tuscaloosa Pediatrics and Bama Pediatrics to provide the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
The remote location is usually only open on Fridays to vaccinate people against COVID-19, but a hospital spokesperson says the pediatric groups have reached out to DCH to work together to protect children from the virus when they return to school. .
“Children are currently not vaccinated at a very high level. So we really need to get these vaccination levels on all populations. Kids going back to school are being exposed to a wide variety of people they haven’t been exposed to in recent months,” says Andy North.
So far, more than 100 children have been registered to be vaccinated in the back to school clinic. You can register to be vaccinated by visiting dchsystem.com/covidvaccine.
