GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids Celebrates 20 Years of Camp Sparkle! The free event is scheduled for August 3-5 this year.
The annual day camp is for children in grades 1 to 6 who have been dealing with cancer or grief, the nonprofit says.
We were told that Camp Sparkle will have virtual and in-person options this year. Gilda’s Club says both options will provide healthy methods for coping with cancer and grief, in addition to bolstering emotional health.
The in-person camp will take place from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and the virtual camp is scheduled from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, according to Gilda’s Club.
“Staying true to our Gilda’s Club Motto, ‘In This Together…Learn, Share, Laugh’, Camp Sparkle provides foundational elements to build psychosocial health for our youngest members,” said Chairman Wendy Wigger. “Camp Sparkle builds on the foundation of ‘never being alone’ to normalize the child’s experiences and emotions often encountered during a journey into cancer and grief.”
Those wishing to enroll a child in Camp Sparkle can do so by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
