Noida (UP), Jul 4 (PTI) A dedicated 100-bed facility with trained staff to treat children is now ready at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida, hospital officials said.
The special pediatric clinic at state-run GIMS, a leading COVID-19 hospital, has been set up in anticipation of a possible third wave of the pandemic that is believed to affect children, they said.
“Amid the possibility of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, GIMS has prepared a special 100-bed pediatric clinic for children,” GIMS director Dr. (Brig) Rakesh Gupta to PTI.
He said the child treatment facility has been prepared in accordance with government guidelines and could be expanded to 150 beds if needed.
Gupta also said the hospital is training its staff in treating child-related cases and has so far conducted about 10 workshops and trained more than 300 employees, including those from other hospitals. “Training is the backbone of the healthcare system,” he said, adding that the staff is undergoing further training and the staff is well underway.
The hospital trains staff in specially created virtual ICUs that handle real-time scenarios, including oxygen deprivation cases, he added.
