Steele Kosarik is eager to learn more about a career as a pediatric nurse thanks to the lessons he learned as part of his Keizer University experience.
The Sarasota campus student was inspired to work with pediatric post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) patients while participating in clinical interactions at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. While the experiences provide students with the opportunity to interact with patients in local healthcare settings under supervision, the experiences provide valuable instruction that students can only receive in the field.
“As I look forward to a career in healthcare by working with children, it comes as no surprise to me that during this unexpected pandemic, professionals in our field are finding their profession more meaningful and valuable than ever before,” he says. Kosarik is also grateful for the EASE (Effective Access to Student Education) grant. “The scholarship was very beneficial to me during my college education and I am grateful that it has the potential to positively impact other students in the same way,” he said. “The EASE program provided me with financial support during my nursing studies, which made university more fun and financially less stressful.”
Keizer University’s Associate of Science degree in nursing prepares students for professional nursing.
