Pointers from a Pediatrician: Keeping kids safe in the heat

LAS VEGAS (CLASS) – We’re in the midst of our first heat wave here in the valley, which means kids are spending more time in the sun and around the water. 8 News Now I wanted to run through some important reminders to make sure we keep them safe.

dr. Carrie Wijesinghe, owner and medical director of Siena Pediatrics, spoke to us about everything from pool safety to safe sunscreens.

Yesterday we reported that traces of a chemical linked to blood cancers were found in dozens of popular sunscreens and after-sun products. This is evident from tests conducted by online pharmacy and lab Valisure. The list of safe sunscreen products can be found in the document below.
